What are DVA’s Education Schemes?
The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) offers financial assistance, special support, and student services to eligible children of current or former ADF members, including guidance counselling and extra tutoring, under the Veterans’ Children Education Scheme (VCES) or the MRCA Education & Training Scheme (MRCAETS)
Who Is eligible?
- Under 16 years, or aged 16–25 and studying full-time (including apprenticeships or traineeships),
- Whose parent (or guardian) is a current/former ADF member receiving certain service-related compensation or who passed away due to service.
What support is included?
Families may receive:
- An education allowance (fortnightly payments, tax-exempt for under‑16s)
- Additional tuition if your child needs extra help funding is available for tutors up to around $3,500/year
- Special assistance, fares/rent allowances, counselling, and scholarships for students moving away from home for studies.
